Dreaming about Norway?

Are you dreaming about Norway?

Norway for beginners, where to start.

Who wouldn’t?! Norway is an amazing country with spectacular nature with a plethora of magical places to discover. Such diversity can make your head spin, and you wonder where to start. Especially when time is an issue or the financial resources are limited.

Norway isn’t the cheapest country in the world. Neither is the country you can get to know in a day or two but for sure is worth your time and money.

Choosing the destination for a first-time visit can be an unpleasant task. The whole process of researching, looking for attractions, hotels, etc., seems like a boring and exhausting work. Therefore, take advantage of the experience of others and start to plan your Norwegian dream.

Let see what we can do about it!

Bergen, the city of 7 mountains

City of Bergen. West Norway.

The perfect place for beginners to start discovering Norway is Bergen.

The second-largest city located approx. 500km west of Oslo keeps tourists busy.

This Norwegian city has a perfect combination of nature, culture, and urban life all year round. It is called the Gateway to the Fjords too.

Bergen was a European Capital of Culture in 2000 and since 1979 UNESCO World Heritage City with its historic harbor district of Bryggen.

The former capital of Norway is situated on the shores of the North Sea between seven mountains. Not hills like Rome, but mountains.

Actually, the seven mountains are not independent peaks, as five of them belong to the same mountain range. This fact by someone undermines the legitimacy of calling Bergen the city of 7 mountains, but why? The term has been used since the Middle Ages. It is the tradition, that is all.

Anyway, the mountains for sure add to the natural beauty of the city. The location is breathtaking. Surrounded by mountains, water, and small islands, the city of Bergen is one of the most beautiful big-small cities in the world.

The view from the top of Fløyfjellet captures the beauty of this place. There is a lot to do and see here.

Bergen and its surroundings will keep you busy in few days – I promise!

Norway in nutshell

The city of 7 mountains is a good starting point to get a taste of Norway. Get to know the culture, history, and tradition.

You won’t be bored here for sure, but it’s only part of Norway.

To feel Norway, you need to explore the surrounding area.

I guarantee that you will never forget it. As they say in my country, it will make your jaw drop. The icing on this cake is a trip to the fjords.

Sailing in Norwegian fjords passing fairy-tale villages located on the shores and the surrounding hills.
The Nærøyfjord and Aurlandsfjord are two of the world's most beautiful and dramatic fjords.
